In 2001, Harvest opened an Emergency and Assessment shelter. This building is divided into two units, a boy’s unit and girls unit each holding 11 children. This program is designed to be more structured and short-term with 24-hour awake staff. Children in this program receive residential services including:
The Emergency and Assessment Shelter, is strategically divided into two sides with the cafeteria centrally located. This purposeful layout designates one side for boys and the other for girls, allowing for tailored support and care. Ensuring the safety and security of the children is paramount, with a strong emphasis on maintaining a nurturing environment.
The central room of both units is the spacious day rooms. In this room the kids spend a lot of their free time reading, working puzzles, playing board games, drawing, playing video games and watching tv. Movie nights are always a favorite weekend activity in this room! This room also hosts nightly devotions where our staff share the Word of God with our kids.
Each unit can house 11 kids (22 kids total). Each bedroom is fitted with bunk beds, a dresser for each kid and closet space. Our kids love decorating their room with stuffed animals, pictures and drawings.
This program features 24-hour awake staff on both units. Each unit features a glass office that allows our staff an area to complete essential tasks such as paperwork, while still supervising the children at all times.
A central dining area and kitchen provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack for the kids.

The children in the Emergency and Assessment program attend public school online. The classroom downstairs is the perfect place for the kids to learn and complete their schoolwork. This room features several school desks, school supplies, and a chalk board. Staff members are always supervising and ready to help the kids with their schoolwork.
Rec time is one of the kids’ favorite times of day! During warmer weather, they love swimming, playing basketball, and riding bikes outside. In addition to outside time, they love spending time in our spacious recreation room downstairs. In the Rec Room, the kids love playing foosball, pool, video games, and board games.
