Casa Hogar

In 2007, Harvest Child Care Ministries expanded its mission to the villages of Tuxtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. When we learned that children facing extreme poverty, abuse, and neglect in these communities had no access to social services, we felt called to help meet this critical need.

Today, Casa Hogar Harvest is operated under the care of our parent ministry in Virginia and led by our dedicated on-site director, Elias Perez. The home has the capacity to serve up to 32 boys and girls and functions similarly to our program in the United States. Our houseparents provide a safe, loving, Christian home where every child is valued and supported.

Children at Casa Hogar learn essential independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, and the importance of hard work. Because education is often not prioritized in families living in poverty, many of the children arrive at our home severely behind academically—if they’ve had access to education at all. To help them catch up and to ensure they receive a strong, Christ-centered education, all children are homeschooled on campus by a team of dedicated teachers and tutors.

As a Christian ministry, faith is central to everything we do. The children attend a local church each Sunday—an experience they love! They often participate in the service by singing special songs or reading Scripture.

The property includes two dormitories, houseparent homes, and a kitchen-dining building that also serves as an indoor recreation space. A separate laundry building is located just behind the dining hall.
